Beauty of the Night by PeterJCoskun
Beauty of the Night
I spent the labor day weekend up on the North Rim of the grand canyon with a bunch of friends and fellow photographers. We were gifted with extremely beautiful sunsets despite the weatherman predicting clear blue. However, one of my favorite moments came on the final evening of this wonderful trip. Watching the milky way rise above the canyon as the moon gave light within. It was the perfect combination and a great way to end a photo trip.

Royal Skies by PeterJCoskun
Royal Skies
With the weatherman forecasting clear blue, I had been expecting to be shooting almost exclusively night shots. Luckily, the weatherman was wrong twice, and the skies treated us to glorious sunsets over two of the best viewpoints in the park. I wanted to include as much of the sky as possible, so I decided to take multiple exposures while panning down to create a vertical panorama. While the ratio is that of a single image, this is an extremely wide view as I am basically on top of those foreground flowers. It was a great evening enjoyed with some fellow photographers. After sunset, we went back out to catch the milky way rising 90 degrees to the left of this shot.

Imperial Evening by PeterJCoskun
Imperial Evening
I recently spent a few nights up on the North Rim of the grand canyon. It was a much needed getaway, and despite less than ideal conditions, I was able to come away with this single image from Point Imperial. There were lots of light shafts breaking through the clouds with a few brief sprinkles of rain, and even a rainbow emerged for a very brief moment.

Days End by PeterJCoskun
Days End
Summer in Arizona means chasing the monsoons all over the place. I haven't chased them as much as I should be, and will hopefully be doing so during the rest of the summer. This was from one of my more recent chases to catch the storms. A fellow photographer and I had made a quick decision to head north to Prescott as thats where the storms were moving to. We knew exactly where we wanted to be (although probably not the best place if there had been crazy lightning) and headed to Watson Lake. By the time we arrived at the lake, the storm had already moved far ahead of us and we could see the giant cloud structure as it kept pushing north. There were still clouds in the sky, so we stuck it out and I saw this long stretch of granite boulders (otherwise known as the dells here) and made my way out to it. When I got to a certain point I noticed the moon rising behind the clouds, and these beautiful rays of light began to emanate from the distant cloud structure. It was one of the most unique displays of light I have seen and created an almost perfect X in the composition. The colors and tree at the end of the rocks didn't hurt either. I felt as if I had captured something special, and after sharing it with others on various sites, many had felt the same way. Now I am sharing it here.

Eyes Over Yosemite by PeterJCoskun
Eyes Over Yosemite
Glacier point in Yosemite National Park offers one of the most dramatic views in the west IMO. It's quite difficult to comprehend this view through an image, and only peering over the valley in person will make you feel like you are in a dream. This point offers a unique view of Yosemite capturing a few of the parks Iconic features. The peak in the middle that is lit up is half dome. It was interesting to zoom in and see hikers and climbers clinging to the walls and on the top. To the right are two rushing waterfalls, Nevada and Vernal falls. You could hear their force echo from this spot and to have this one particular location basically all to myself made it quite a special moment. This is a panoramic stitch of five images for extra detail and would make an incredible print!

I am just a simple human trying to see and capture the beauty that is mother nature. There is nothing in the world I love more than being out in nature (aside from family!) and documenting the amazing places and things I see. Every photographer has a bucket list of places they want to go, I have mine. I will do whatever it takes to be able to see these places. Life is too short to sit inside and watch tv. Give me a tent, camera, and some clothes and I will be the happiest man alive. I photograph to share my adventures to beautiful landscapes, seeing amazing wildlife, and the overall joy of being out there so people can have a better appreciation for their surroundings. I hope I can show these things in each photograph I present. Take a moment to step outside, see the natural world the way it was intended and appreciate what mother nature has given us.
