I have only seen these birds in one location and nowhere else. Every time I would try to photograph one it would fly off. On this spur of the moment trip to the wetlands I finally got something I have been searching for. I was hoping just to get a decent photograph of one when I came across a large group of them. This one in particular did not mind my presence as it allowed me to photograph it quite close. I was extremely happy to have captured this pose, a one of a kind for me. These birds are so colorful I had to tone down the greens here. Anyways, let me know what you think as always.

Oh, the Riparian Preserve has a GREAT colony of lovebirds! I sadly don't go there as often as I should, but when I do I make it a goal to see at least one lovebird.

This is such an adorable shot. I have two peach-faced lovebirds at home, so I've come appreciate the little personalities they have inside. And as far as that goes, this shot is personality plus. I love it. ^^ Thanks for sharing this.

Thank you! I've seen them there plenty of times, but only this once I was able to get close and photograph them. They are quite the characters.

Yeah, it's a really good shot. ^^

The last time I went there I was actually looking at another bird out on the water, and I heard a lovebird in the tree next to me. I turn to look and the tree was full of them! So I go to take a picture and my camera was dead. The spare batteries I brought were dead as well. I mean, what are the odds? So I hope to go back and catch a picture or two sometime. : )

Haven't had that happen yet (knock on wood). But too bad you weren't able to get the shot. I was just there a few days ago and there were none to be found.

Oh, really? Well I heard that a colony has been known to flock around the ASU campus, so maybe they travel back and forth. There's certainly a lot more lovebirds at the Riparian then there used to be.

I have gotten a really good picture of one on a previous trip, I just wish I could have gotten one of all the lovebirds in the tree. Silly camera..

Yeah, they do travel around. One morning I had a lawn full of them. Was a sight to see.
