Description

I normally try not to submit the same species repeatedly, But I just could not help posting this one from today. I made a trip out to the wetlands today with a friend to sort of show him the ropes around bird photography and introduce him into nature. We stumbled upon a group of sandpipers, dowitchers, american avocet's, and these guys, black necked stilts. As we waited, this stilt kept coming closer and closer observing us. It made a few attempts to snag some food out of the shallow water coming up shorthanded. I really liked this with the open beak and small droplets of water emerging from the tips. Comments and critiques appreciated!

I remember the first time I ever saw one of these. Also the first time I ever saw an American avocet. They were hanging out together.
