Expanse

This is one of the first images I shot on my recent trip to page. I thought I'd go in order with the photos just so I don't get ahead of myself. This scene captivated me when I first saw it. The vast desert leading to the cliffs along lake Powell and the incoming storm during an "interesting" sunset just had to be photographed. This was shot on the hike to horseshoe bend (I don't have any new photos of the bend as it was very windy and I wasn't going to chance it). The heavy winds kept blowing sand straight at me and my camera and by the time I left I had a sandbox in my hair. Luckily my camera and lens were ok. The unfortunate weather seemed to follow me anywhere I went and had to cancel a few planned photo opportunities due to pouring rain. Though the sun was out in this shot right before it crept behind the clouds for the evening and turned off any decent light to be seen.
