Silent night

This is a blend of two images. I took the first image at sunset at an ISO of 100 for a nice clean frame. Then I waited until the sun went away, boosted the ISO and began shooting some star shots. The star image was shot at ISO 3200. Scenes like these are not possible to the naked eye unless there is a full moon, and even then so, everything seems to be one color. This was shot on a moonless night as I had planned to capture as many stars as my camera could allow. Despite this area being in a wilderness area, the pink glow in the upper left is evidence of suburban sprawl. Something that is strangling these magnificent places and begins to take away from the "wild" of the wilderness experience. However, you can still see plenty of stars and can make out the faint milky way above. Because this image is a blend, not all the stars are visible. This shot took some planning and is a final product of one of my first projects this year. Don't be surprised if you see me post images from here in the spring and summer either because I have already planned to head back plenty of times. Sometimes, the work is worth it, but nothing ever beats just being out there, whether it's with a camera or not.
