Great Horned Owl

It is that time of year and the owls have taken refuge in "their" tree. It was almost a year (364 days) since I last photographed these owls. For the past few years I have been able to observe them quite easily. They nest right by my house and roost in a tree off the road in the desert. From the road you have an eye level view of the beautiful birds. However, a short trail leads you underneath the very tree and you are able to watch them quite close. This image is full frame with a 400mm lens on a cropped framed sensor. The last time I almost stepped on a rattle snake, but due to the cool weather I have yet to see any snakes out. I watched this owl as well as the two owlets for about two hours just admiring them and of course photographing them. I left for a little while to photograph some other birds and found myself back under the tree with a few other people making their way to see the owls. The second time around only the owlets were visible and the loud people eventually drove one owlet out of the tree. I still consider myself lucky to be able to live so close to these birds and can observe them for the next few weeks. I also have been having a wildlife drought so I caught a break with the owls. I just loved this pose...Comments and thoughts appreciated!
